HOW DO I DO STAGE MAKEUP?

  1. Apply a thin layer of foundation to a clean face with a foundation brush or makeup sponge

  2. Using a large brush, lightly dust a loose setting powder over entire face

  3. Using a color that is a shade darker than your natural color, apply a thin layer of eye shadow to eyebrows using an angled eyeliner/brow brush

  4. Highlight the brow bone and inner corner of the eye with a white or very light, neutral eyeshadow

  5. Apply a light eye shadow (cream, peach, light pink, or light silver) to the eye lid

  6. Using a clean eyeshadow brush, apply a dark brown eyeshadow to the crease in the shape of a sideways “V”, focusing color on the outer half of the eye

  7. Apply black eyeliner pencil (or black eyeshadow with an angled brush) along the upper lash line, winging it out at the end

  8. Line the bottom of the wings with a white eyeliner pencil

  9. Apply black eyeliner pencil (or black eyeshadow with an angled brush) slightly under the lower lashes from the middle of last line out past the corner of the eye to line up with the wing line

  10. Apply black water-resistant mascara to top and bottom lashes

  11. Use a blush brush to apply blush from apples of cheeks, just under cheekbone, towards hairline

  12. Line and fill lips with a deep red or burgundy lipstick (not cherry red)

HOW DO I DO A BALLET BUN?

  1. Use a comb or brush to pull pull hair into a ponytail at the crown of the head.  This creates a swoop diagonally upwards giving the illusion of a longer neck.

  2. Twist the ponytail (either way is fine) into a rope and begin pinning around the hair tie.

  3. When its secure enough to temporarily hold itself in place, cover the bun with a hair net.  Twist the net and cover the bun again.  Tuck the remaining net under the bun secure with a bobby pin.  Continue to pin the bun until it feels very secure.

  4. Use hair spray to smooth back “whispies” and create a sleek look.  Only use bobby pins or clips to secure stubborn hair if they match the color of the hair.  No colored clips, bows, or additional jewels unless specified as part of the costume.

  • TIPS FOR SHORTER HAIR: Purchase a donut-shaped bun maker to put over the elastic of the ponytail.  Pin their hair around it with bobby pins and continue with steps 3 and 4.
